Thai Marriage And Financial Requirement

Featured Replies

Could I ask about the financial requirements needed before, during and well during :o I don't fancy the divorce.

If I were to marry a Thai lady and put the 400,000 baht in a Thai bank required, what checks (by the Thai government) are made,

A ) I believe 3 months before extension,

B ) Would the next check be 12 months later, or, 3 months before the 12 months is up.

C ) After the initial check, could I draw on the 400,000 and replace it before the next check.

D ) What kind of paper trail do they require.

E ) Could I leave the 400,000 in the bank and draw living expenses from the ATM or would that not satisfy the checks made.

F) If I have it entirely wrong could someone put me on the right path please.

I know someone/s can help, so I will say my thanks in advance.

It was explained to you in your earlier thread that it is no longer possible to get a visa extension based on having B400,000 in the bank, you must show an income of B40,000 a month....... would you like to rephrase your question :o

Hi Mahout,

Please let me apologise to you and other members, and, in my defence (and desperation) say , I have looked at some out of date sources who must still be displaying the old regulations. :o

Would it be possible to PM you and ask you for some sensitive advise please :D:D:D

No apologies required, the regulations only changed on October 1st 2006. There is plenty of discussion about the subject on this forum if you look around, as many have had similar problems.

Yes, of course, you can PM me if you wish but a posting here will bring in opinions from some knowledgable folk and different comments.

The only time you can use the 400,000 Baht criteria is to change from a tourist visa exemption stamp or tourist visa to a Non -O. You then would get a single 90 day entry.

This 400K can be in the bank for one day.

To extend this 90 day visa, your wife or you or combo of the two of you, will need to show a income of 40K per month.
