Received this in a STEP email. I assume it is intended for those needing income Affidavits.

 

The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok is pleased to offer a full-day of notarial services.   Date:  December 20, 2018. Time:  0730-1400 Place: US Embassy Bangkok 95 Wireless Road, Bangkok               There will be approximately 400 notarial appointments available. All services will be provided by appointment only.  Please visit us here to make an appointment.    Fees for notary services are $50.00 USD or 1700 Thai Baht per notarial stamp.   To expedite your service, please bring exact change or consider paying by credit card to facilitate the movement of people through their appointments.   Please arrive with your passport, a copy of your passport and documents filled-out completely, correctly, and NOT signed. Anybody that is on an extension of stay and using the income option within about 7 months (apply 30 days early) after the 20th had best make an appointment to get a income affidavit on that day since it is the last available day to get one.

No help for me since my extension is due in August which would require doing it about 60 days early to use the affidavit. I see no way immigration would do it that early.

 

Still 150 appointment available but they are all early morning appointments.

There are now 67 remaining between 7:45 and 8:30.

Just left the consulate with my affidavit. They had 565 appointments with no increase in staff to facilitate the masses. A staff member told me they normally do 65 in a day. Also some genius decided that this would be a great time to remodel the area where this is normally done so you are shuttled through temporary booths in different areas. The lines are ridiculously long.

Well then I am really glad I decided to avoid the Income Letter, and instead got the money into a Thai bank account in time for seasoning before my early March extension. Barely in time, but at least its done.

Joe, I've got similar timing, and already have a late Dec. appt. at the Embassy that I made back in Nov. when they first opened the appointments cycle for December.  I'm planning on going and getting the affidavit.

 

If I recall, the Embassy said Immigration this year would allow early applications, but of course, they never specified how early, and Immigration has of course said nothing on the subject ever since. Nonetheless, I'm planning to give it a try in June, and if Immigration at CW says no, I'll do my best at pleading, and see how it goes.

 

Can only hope we'll hear something official from Immigration, between now and then, on how they're going to handle monthly income certifications for Americans, Brits, Aussies etc in 2019 once income affidavits are no longer available to citizens of those countries.

I thought about getting one but decided it could be a wasted trip to Bangkok. My expenses are much more to get the affidavit. Adding in the cost of a round trip flight and etc. I considered making an appointment on the 27th when afternoon appointments were available so I could do it in one day like I have done before.
