O visa extention/change

Featured Replies

hi,i currently have a single entry O visa ( runs out mid feb) and was hoping to change to a retirement visa,i have a police report from the uk,a pension print out (not from an embassy ) and no medical cert.I think i have misread previous posts and hoping someone could point me in the right direction as to how, if achieveable, i could change or extend my visa.If i have to leave to get a new 2 month visa then so be it (go back april),i have done that before, was just wondering, thanks in advance

Do not believe UK still issuing income letters so 800k in Thai bank account for 2 months would be the current accepted need.  Police report/medical is only required to O-A visa issued in home country - not for one year extensions of stay from immigration.

It appears immigration will be issuing a new order after the New Year outlining new requirements for income proof other than Embassy letters but appears this will be 65k per month deposits into a Thai account.  So you may want to open an account and make first deposit ASAP if wanting to use that method - it is not known how many months of this will be required so you might have to travel out to get another non O visa.  But at this time we just do not know more than 800k in bank account 2 months will likely still be accepted.

You don't need a police clearance or medical certificate to apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry from your non-o visa at a immigration office.

You will need 800k baht in a Thai bank for 60 days or proof of 65k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.

General requirements are here. https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_22

At this time your pension statement alone would not be accepted and you are to late to get a income letter from the UK embassy since they stopped accepting application on the 12th of this month. Perhaps by the time you can apply there may be a clarification from immigration as to what they will accept instead of the letter from the embassy.

You have excellent advice from respected guys above. Perhaps for this first extension you could look option of agent. It will save you lot of running around. Maybe 20k, and next extension go down 800k in Thai bank seasoned for 3 month path. BTW Penang is a sh.
