Mystery as foreigner found under strange circumstances on southern Thai beach

Mystery surrounds the death of a foreigner found on Bang Niang beach in Pangnga province in Thailand's south.

Pol Col Suwat of the Khao Lak police and a foundation rescue team were called to the beach where they found a foreign man face up and wearing just a bathing costume. His body and head was wrapped in a sky blue cloth.

His feet were positioned above his head.

There was bruising around his neck and blood was coming from his mouth, ear and nose.

On some rocks nearby police found clothes, a wallet, a motorcycle key, a phone and a driver's licence.

The licence stated the following information:

New Zealand Driver Licence. 1. Darlington. 2 Murray.

There were the following dates: 26/02/1972,  24/05/1994 and 2/04/2019

There were some other numbers on the licence.

There was a snorkel and a bottle of coconut oil. Under some trees there was a parked Honda PCX motorcycle.

The body was sent to autopsy at Khao Lak.

Pol Col Suwat contacted the last person to have been phoned on the mobile phone. It was a woman who could speak Thai clearly who was living in Phuket at Hat Mai Khao. She said she was a friend of the man and that he had gone to buy a new motorcycle.

Tourists in the area said the man was seen at 3pm on Thursday. He parked his bike then covered himself in oil and went to the rocks.

Sanook further reported that the information given by the friend and the nationality shown on the driver's licence did not tally.

Investigations continue.

(Note: Sanook reported that the licence found at the scene said "New Sealand Diver Licence" - we have assumed the errors in that in our translation).

Rest in peace mate praying that your family are able to say goodbye in your home town and that the people responsible are found and punished appropriately.

RIP - Seems strange though that all his belongings were found, I would of thought if it was foul play the bike and phone would be long gone unless maybe the crime was disturbed in progress.

How about doing a bit of diving and getting picked up by a strong wave and thrown into the rocks, back broken and any number of injuries associated with such an event found with the body. RIP. Never dive alone.

Or even just slip on the rocks, as the OP states,

That would work if not for the body and head being wrapped in a blue cloth. That part is hard to explain.

Unless for some reason someone came along after the fact and wrapped the body.

It's pretty obvious from the above that the culprits were two Burmese males, aged between 30 and 35 and have been living and working illegally in Thailand for the past 12 months. Case closed, next. :coffee1:
