  • So as I understand the custom, its a symbolic marriage so there isnt any sex.   But hey, in the west I suppose its as weird as such customs as Catholic parents having their children symbolic

  • Says it all, really!

  • So when the kids are 14 or 15, and the parents catch them in bed having sex together, they'll think it's a carry over from their past lives?

What's in Thailand stays in Thailand! ????

Is it just me, or are things acceptable in Thailand that are not anywhere else in the world anymore? ????

You are correct....besides incestual and forced whatever you call it, the poor children have to abide from their f...d up parents and have no choice. In my opinion this is child abuse and I could  notgive a flying f..k about Thailand's "Buddhist" mentality. And speaking of mentality, these people need a therapist, although such a thought is not welcomed by people who blame their deficiencies on other "sources". This is the epitome of uneducated people. This is akin to "wackos" who are so ingrained in their superstition, yet expose innocent children to their BS. Note to third world believers in BS. Go elsewhere and stop making your children  an extension of your neuroticism

I always wonder if any hallucinogens contribute to this off-the -wall thinking. If not, then a prime example of indoctrination. But of course that word means nothing to ignorant people.

Its ironic that you call other people "ignorant" , when you are the ignorant one who doesnt understand the situation .

The children are not getting married , its just a ceremony to ward off bad luck

It's you, this ceremony means nothing apart from tradition.

it's symbolic only...........and possibly a publicity stunt.........but seriously, my father & my Aunt are paternal twins and at least they look like each other, I see no similarities in these two 'cept they are asian.

Twins frequently do not look alike but the effects of a substantial amount of makeup on the girl may account for some difference in appearance, don't you think, geez...

The clowns are out in force today on this one!

I seriously doubt that any of the posters here showing their alleged astonishment and disapproval actually believe a single word that they say, they just see it as another excuse to have yet another unjustified bash at Thailand.

Perhaps some of you should note that this was an article published in Britains biggest rag, The Sun, and it is intended to be sensationalist.  If any of you do believe your own comments it says a lot about you!
