Six-year-old twins were married in a Buddhist ceremony for 'success'

VIRALPRESS

SIX-YEAR-OLD twins got married in a Buddhist ceremony because their parents thought they were "lovers in past lives".

Guitar and his sister Kiwi from Thailand appeared shy in front of dozens of loved ones who attended their ceremony last Monday.

Dad Amornsan Sunthorn Malirat, 31, and mum, Phacharaporn, 30, arranged the ceremony worth thousands of pounds so their kids will have "success".

Buddhists believe male and female twins are re-born together but have "karma" from relationships, so they must be married in order to avoid having bad luck in the future.

Amornsan said, according to Mail Online: "We believe that both the children used to be a partners in the past life. This is a belief we have inherited from ancient people.

  • So as I understand the custom, its a symbolic marriage so there isnt any sex.   But hey, in the west I suppose its as weird as such customs as Catholic parents having their children symbolic

  • Says it all, really!

  • So when the kids are 14 or 15, and the parents catch them in bed having sex together, they'll think it's a carry over from their past lives?

What's in Thailand stays in Thailand! ????

Is it just me, or are things acceptable in Thailand that are not anywhere else in the world anymore? ????

Get those kids away from those lunatics, pronto!

Shows the parent's intelligence calling their son Guitar. What will his short name be, Axe or Git?

I thought there were only certain names which can be used in Thailand.

Guitar and Kiwi are their nicknames.

On first visit & trek here in '82 I recall guide saying certain hill tribe killed twins if one girl one boy. Thought they had sex while in the womb. Never did follow up to check veracity, but this BKK thing sounds like bit of improvement

But hey, in the west I suppose its as weird as such customs as Catholic parents having their children symbolically eat the body of Christ, Fundamentalist parents teaching their kids that being gay is bad, Gay parents teaching their kids that religion is bad, atheists teaching their there is no hope after death, Muslim parents circumsizing their daughters (hey thats legal in the USA), orthodox jewish parents separating boys and girls for religious reasons, folks letting their teenagers get tattooed and pierced...I could go on and on with the third world.

Some of you guys got to get a grip on what life is. Even though we won the western birth lottery, all of our customs, practices and beliefs can be seen as strange weird and harmful too, sometimes even more so..

There is waaaaay too much "white mans burden" here sometime.

Except on official documents, Thais only ever use a nickname which they are given at birth, and that could be anything at all. Why Thais never use their real name is another question entirely which probably has no logical answer.

This has nothing to do with Buddhism.  It has everything to do with superstition.

who needs science?!.. who cares what grotesque monters their children will be. Then i guess it would be a karma thing and back to temple.....

Lord have mercy, what century are we in?

Unfortunately not.

Sometimes I think I'm going nuts when I read of these totally ridiculous happenings here.

it's symbolic only...........and possibly a publicity stunt.........but seriously, my father & my Aunt are paternal twins and at least they look like each other, I see no similarities in these two 'cept they are asian.

more money than brains...

I really don't know what to say about this.. Only in Thailand comes to mind.
