Multiple Entry Non-O 90 day Limit Removed?

Featured Replies

I have been on a Non-O (marriage) for the past 2 years with each stay limited to 90 days. I am preparing to apply for a new Non-O at the embassy in London and their website advises, "Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant Visa will be valid for 1 year from the date of issue. Travellers must enter Thailand within the validity of visa.  However, the permitted length of stay is up to 1 year from the date of arrival in Thailand." So have the rules changed to allow up to one year and not just 90 days?

No rules have changed. You have never been able to stay continuously in the country for 1 year from a non 'O' entry.

If you want to stay continuously for 1 year you need to enter with the non 'O' and then apply for a 1 year extension of stay at immigration.

That is thoroughly confusing and incorrect.  Not only is each stay 90-days, but the visa expires (the "enter before" date) 1-year from when it is put in your passport at the consulate, not 1-year after first-use entering Thailand with it.

This fits the description for a Non-O A visa.

Available with higher financial and bureaucratic requirements.

That is not incorrect.

That page applies to ALL visas and it is true that for Multi Entry Visas

"the permitted length of stay is up to 1 year from the date of arrival in Thailand."

- 1 year : for Non O-A

- 90 days : for Non O, Non O-X

Ok - correct in that context, but still confusing, given different Visas have different rules.

With a multi O you have to leave and re-enter every 90 days, each time you get stamped in for 90 days during the valid year of the multi 0 visa.

With the multi entry O-A visa you get stamped in for 1 year each time you leave and re-enter during the visa valilidity but have to do 90 day reports to Imm' unless 'you' decide to leave and re-enter.

Just before the enter by date on the O-A you can leave and re-enter and get 1 more year, however, if you leave and re-enter any time during that second year you require a re-entry permit to keep that second year permission to stay alive.

It's not just "correct in that context", it is correct, period.

No, as it does not apply to many of the visas listed, and could easily be confused with the visa's validity-of-use date.
