Hi there

Anybody knows about recent information to get non immigrant-o visa in Vientiane?

I work in a Thai company and would like to stay with my wife. We both are not Thai citizen.

Does anybody recently applied for the visa there?

What documents are needed? Do I need a letter from my employer?

Any advise will be helpful.

Thanks a lot!

Are you asking about a non ‘O’ visa for your wife to be able to stay with you?

If so,

Do you have a non ‘B’ visa?

And have you been granted a 1 year extension of stay based on your job/work permit?

You wife can get a non-o visa at a embassy or consulate for being a member of your family based upon your on your extension of stay and then an extension of stay at immigration.

Your marriage certificate in English or Thai  would be needed. Copies of your passport photo page and extension of stay stamp. A letter from employer to prove you are still working for them.

She could also apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry at immigration. See: https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_75

Thanks for the information. However, it seems getting a non o visa in Bangkok requires a lot of documents. Do you know such amount of documents are also needed in Vientiane?

This what would be required.

Bangkok has been one of the best places to get a Non-O Stamp in the past.  They are not known to be difficult, unlike many other offices.

Much of the issue for most applicants who report here, has to do with they money-proof - but that will not apply in the case of your wife - it is not needed.

The 2nd issue is showing you live in that office's service area and your address.  Your rental agreement / lease plus your landlord's ID-Card and phone number may be enough at that office.  If you had to show landlord-documents at that office for your current extension, it is likely to be similar.

You are writing about the wrong visa. His wife is not Thai and he is wanting one so she can apply for an extension based upon his extension based upon working.

That is what I understood - why she (not he) will not need financial-proof - because she (foreigner) is "piggybacking" on his Non-B extension with her Non-O given on the basis of being his wife.

Yes, it was about the visa for my wife. I have a non B visa with a 1 year extension.

Thanks so much for useful advise. But now I need further help from you.

I went to the immigration in Bangkok for apply but I was told that I don’t have enough documents.

The problem is my company doesn’t want to provide me anything other than the letter that states about my employment. (....I know it’s absurd!)

At immigration I was asked:

- Value added tax Vat

- list of shareholders

- a copy of the list of withholding income tax of the foreigner

...............

I’m wondering if my employer’s documents are still required in other places such as Laos or Cambodia. I’ve heard that less documents are needed in Laos. Is it true?

All those documents are mentioned on the page on the  immigration website I posted a link to earlier. Those are only required when applying for a non immigrant visa (category O) entry at immigration.

At a nearby embassy or consulate the letter from your employer will be enough plus your ,marriage certificate, copies of your passport photo page and extension of stay stamp.

After you get the non-o visa getting the extension of stay at immigration will not require all the documents needed for the visa application.
