Ferry services between Pattaya and Hua Hin have been suspended ahead of the arrival of Tropical Storm Pabuk that is expected to hit southern Thailand tomorrow.

Although Pattaya and Hua Hin are not expected to be hit by the storm, the operators decided to suspend the services as a safety measure. Hua Hin’s beaches are now experiencing strong currents possibly from the impact of the impending storm.

The operators will decide whether to lift the suspension on daily basis.

The Met Department has forecast that Pabuk (a Mekong giant catfish) will come to Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat on Friday and Saturday before moving to the Andaman Sea.

The presence of the storm would result in heavy rainfall, strong winds and high waves. Some southern residents have moved to higher ground.
