Question about validity of U.S. embassy income affidavit

Featured Replies

My current permission to stay (based on an original non-Imm O-A visa) expires 29 June 2019.

I have a U.S. embassy income affidavit dated 26 December 2018.

If I understand correctly, the current rules are that the affidavit is valid for 6 months, i.e., up to 26 June 2019.  Will I be ok as long as I apply for my extension of stay before 26 June, or will I maybe have a problem from TI because the expiry date of my permission to stay (29 June) is more than 6 months from the date of the affidavit?

Thanks.

Nobody can tell you the definitive answer to your question.

I would assume the acceptance will be based on the date of application, not the expiration of permission to stay.

But this is a new issue with major embassies stopping letters.

You can listen to people here, you can go into your local office and ask today, but you will not be sure until the actual date of application.

Jing is right, there's some uncertainty in this whole area right now. But my guess would be, as long as you apply before the 6 month validity of your income affidavit runs out, the income affidavit SHOULD be accepted by Thai Immigration.

The validity of that doc should not be tied to the end of your permission to stay date.

You should be ok. I beleive it’s the day you apply that counts. So the letter needs to be dated within 6 months of that date, not the date the current permit to stay ends.

He's extending his permission to stay, not a visa.

Depending on the office he's using he should be able apply to renew the extension 30 to 45 days before his current permission to stay ends.

As has been said, no one can be certain, especially since there may be a new police order or policy statement issued soon regarding requirements for extension renewal, but I would think most offices would accept the embassy letter if less than six months old at the time of application ... if embassy letters continue to be accepted at all.

If, for example, you were also submitting a bank manager's letter regarding your Thai bank balance, the date of the bank balance and the date of the manager's letter would be relative to the date you applied for the extension renewal even though that could be a month or more before your extension renewal date.
