National Artist and eminent actor Sa-ard dies at 87

National Artist and actor Sa-ard Piempongsan passed away due to heart failure on Sunday morning at Vajira Hospital. He was 87.

 

The legendary actor Sa-ard was admitted to the hospital on December 21.

 

The schedule for the bathing rite, which will take place at Wat Phrasrimahathat Bang Khen, will be announced later.

 

Sa-ard was named “National Artist” in the performing arts field by the Culture Ministry in 2014. 

 

Known as one of the Kingdom’s legendary artists, Sa-ard was an eminent actor, television scriptwriter, director and show biz columnist who earned dozens of awards in the entertainment field for over six decades.

 

Born on June 24, 1932, Sa-ard entered show biz at the age of 23 after graduating in films from Nihon University in Tokyo in 1955.

 

Sa-ard became a pioneering producer of television programmes for TV Channel 4 Bang Khun Phrom. He made his debut as a leading actor for the TV drama Duek Sia Laew, with Yenjit Sammaphan.
