emergency flight to UK

Featured Replies

Hi my son is half -thai, half UK, only 3 months old. We need to fly to UK soon as my father is sick. He just got his british passport, but still waiting for this Thai passport which shoudl arrive next week. If we fly in/out of Thailand now with only the UK passport, (I was hoping to be able to fly out/in of Thaialnd with his THai passport), how woudl this work ? He obviously has no visa/permsision to stay in his UK passport he's only 3months old. Thanks

I'll move this over to the Thai immigration forum as it's about leaving / entering Thailand.

Your child could leave and re-enter using his UK passport. On departure from the country you would need to show their birth certificate to prove they were born here. On entering the country they would get a visa exempt entry that could be extended for one year for being a Thai national at immigration.

You should contact the passport office about expediting his passport. They might be able to get it completed. If in Bangkok it is possible to get same day service at the Department of Consular Affairs on Chaeng Wattana Road. If you cannot get it before you leave the country perhaps you could make arrangements for somebody to send it to you in the UK so it could be used for entry.

Maybe of help? My son is Thai-Irish. He was 16 years old leaving Thailand with an emergency Irish passport and at immigration they ran a check and discovered he had a Thai passport application in the system and they refused to allow him board. Had to depart on Thai passport.

Show UK passport at airline check in.

Use thai passport at thai immigration

Enter UK with UK passport

Use UK passport at UK departure

Enter Thailand with thai passport

If the passport is couriered to England, there will be no original exit stamp from Thailand in the passport, when using it for entry into Thailand on the return leg.

Would this not complicate matters?

It should not complicate the entry since it is not mandatory to have one.

A lot of Thai's living in the UK renew their Thai passports at the Thai Embassy in London - they don't have exit stamps either and have no problem entering Thailand.
