INN reported that a woman who has been arrested for swindling people in a multi million baht online fraud used the surname of former Royal Thai Police commissioner general Somyot Poompanmouang.

General Somyot is currently the president of the Thai Football Association after taking up that post in 2016.

Officers from the RTP's TACTICS group, that deals with tech crime, announced the arrest of Anthika Kaewsrisuk yesterday.

Using Line and Facebook she allegedly conned nine investors in a foreign investment and FOREX scam worth three million baht. She used the surname "Poompanmouang" to entice victims and offered returns as high as 5-10% a day.

She even threatened to take people to court herself before her arrest, said INN.

Thaivisa notes that former RTP chief Somyot is no stranger to controversy himself.

Last year he was embroiled in a case where he admitted borrowing 300 million baht from the fugitive owner of Victoria's Secret massage parlor. He said that the money was for his business investments.

I notice there's no mention of bringing the name of the RTP into disrepute, I suppose that's due to it being part of their own job description.

... guess then you couldn't trust them, as far as you could kick'em?

It's sometimes difficult to tell who the real swindler is ...

I wonder if her first name was Victoria?

Or did she keep it secret?

Unbelievable - using the name of that honorable ex man

probably because the name is everywhere known for true honesty

She probably picked his name for luck, given his extraordinary track record of Teflonesque dodgy dealings.
