farangene Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I have a Thai friend who wants to invest in the US stock market. Can you recommend a local brokerage that trades in US stocks from Thailand (Chiang Mai or Bangkok)? Thank you.
rogerinthai Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Why do you seek a local broker when you can open an account with an American broker online???
junkofdavid2 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 yeah. www.tdameritrade.com he'll fill out the application form online, and then receive instructions to deposit to his account via wire transfer or sending a check. or he can print out the application form, and then fill it up manually, and then Fedex it to the states together with his check payment. so easy. not complicated at all.
rogerinthai Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Another option is interactivebrokers.com. Good interface and low comissions. He will beed to supply documents for: 1. Identity verification (such as a passport copy) 2. Address (such as a utility bill) - to prove residence, for tax purposes. Those can be scanned and emailed.

IB is the best choice, no matter where you're from or what market interests you.
rogerinthai Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 (edited) Two more: - mbtrading.com : if he wants to start with a really small account (they accept $2,000 accounts, IB requires min $5,000). - zecco.com : free commisions (!) for certain amount of trades, good for beginners who want to practice with small amounts per trade.
