February 25, 20197 yr My UK license has expired and I'll probably want to hire a car in the UK. Anyone been able to hire a car with a Thai licence as proof of driving ability?
February 25, 20197 yr Oh, the irony.... I think you need to have your Thai license for minimum 1 year, get it converted to international, don’t know how well it’d go down back in your home country though.

Yes, I came here with an IDP plus my English license, so had no problem getting a 1 year Thai licence and then a 5 year.

Did you do it yourself or did someone you know do it? I suppose there ought to be some information on a rental site about what they accept as proof. I'll Google it tomorrow.
