BANGKOK, 28 February 2019 (NNT) – The Thai Cabinet on Tuesday endorsed several proposals including the State Railway of Thailand’s intercity and commuter train projects.

Cabinet ministers approved two red line intercity train projects – the Taling Chan – Salaya route and the construction of 3 additional stations under the SRT’s five-year 10.2 billion baht plan.

The cabinet also endorsed the 8.84 kilometer Rangsit – Thammasart University rail project which will require a fund of 6.5 billion baht and the expropriation of 2.24 hectares of private land.

In addition, the meeting approved the 1.36 billion baht credit guarantee scheme for SME operators, improving 4,000 small and medium businesses’ access to loans. Applications for loans under the program can be submitted until February next year.

Also, the cabinet agreedd to a proposed plan seeking to enhance public debt management, allowing state-run enterprises to borrow a combined 23 billion baht to invest in new projects, in a bid to restructure public debt.

A much, much better use of funds than the pie in the sky high-speed stuff.

We need more of the same.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

While they were at it did they approve adding 2 rail cars to all the trains?  Start there.

Love to see a west to east line say Hua Hin to Bkk linking into the BTS stations

Inter-city within BKK.  Not inter-cities outside of BKK.  Power applies the money where power works and lives.  The rest of the country?  So sad too bad.
