My (Thai) wife has a broken Galaxy S6 and we want to get it repaired. Not sure yet if it is just the display or more. We get warnings from well meaning neighbours that phone repair people would take the original parts out to replace them with "copies".  I find it very hard to believe that someone manages to produces sub standard parts (except batteries may be) for a Samsung phone- but hej- nothing is really impossible in Thailand! So- what is the verdict? Has anyone made bad experiences with something like that before?  Cheers  Stefan

It wouldn't happen. Because you'd notice. I.e poorer quality photos. Slower, etc. You'll be fine.

Check back if you want  further advice on pricing but don't worry on swapping over of inferior parts. Like U said battery might not last as long with a swap over.

Most likely the screen and AliExpress.com sell them I think.

You dont say where you are. I guess as you speak to neighbours it aint in sin city Pattaya ????.

They have got a officilal Samsung owned official repair centre here.

I was living here years before I discoverd it. Repairs guaranteed. Maybe you can google and see if they do repairs via post. Post cheap in Thailand.

Ive been happy with screen replacement .. (I dropped the tablet) and on off switch replacement problems on a well used phone.

Hmmm, thought so and thanks! After the issue with copied rice made from plastic a few years back people might just have become paranoid! Latter a bit easier to produce I think!

Thanks to you too, Pawneese, not a bad idea. I sit in the Isaan, in the very outback, so it will have to be the post office if I find a Samsung repair shop!

Chiang Mai (maybe not right now with the air quality issue).

Ubon Ratchathani???

But it depends on what exactly you need fixed.  And how old is the phone?  A charging port or battery?  Maybe volume or power buttons? relatively easy fixes.  A screen, digitizer, or mainboard?   It is usually worth it to just buy a new one.

Maybe I would worry about this with the newest Iphone or S10. But a Samsung S6 is so old, no one gives a shit.

I had the battery replaced on my S6 last year. I especially ordered from a shop people had good experiences with and that sold original batteries. Less than a year later, the battery only lasts a couple of hours if you use it a lot. If you replace the display, also get a new battery while it is already open, but don't expect too much.

Display repair is around $150-200 if you get a new display. They can also just fix the glass which is less expensive but the quality is really bad.

Maybe it is better to just get a new phone right now bc the S6 is already really old and the batteries are usually really weak. My friends P20 Pro's battery lasts 3 days and he uses it all the time. Mine is already dead after 7-8h.

If your emotionally attached. AliExpress has s6 LCD with frame for 75 US. A YouTube video and a hairdryer and your good to go.

I reckon sell it on eBay and make it someone else's problem. Then buy another phone as others suggest.

S6 is a nice phone in the hand though.
