PM calls for feasible campaign policies with good governance, transparency

BANGKOK, 15 March 2019 (NNT) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha called for feasible campaign policies with good governance and transparency.

 

The premier issued a letter to address the campaign policies which may need large amounts of state budget and affect other sectors, such as the public sector, private sector, as well as education, welfare, and wage issues.

 

He said all governments are bound to proceed with those policies according to the protocols, financial regulations, and other governing laws, which must consider the increase of public debt; while the increase of minimum wage will have to take into account potential effects to investors and the relocation of manufacturing bases.

 

He said many of those policies promised by candidates and parties would not be feasible unless the government could find more incomes and advised the general public to vote for candidates and parties who have good governance, morality, transparency, and accountability while the next premier should be able to govern within the rules of law and can elaborate on cost-effective expenditures and that the next government should take care of all the people in all areas.

Should a sitting PM who is a registered candidate with a political party in the next election for PM be allowed under EC regulations and laws be allowed to issue such a letter? Might it be considered "outside political influence?"

If not, then all the other political parties should be able to issue their own warning letters.

But more likely we'll see that Prayut is given "unique" treatment by the EC when it comes to political equality.

The people campaigning for him want to guarantee wages, but I do not believe they did any feasibility studies.
