Thai Daughter Traveling to UK - No Thai Passport.

Recommended Posts

Friends Thai daughter, parents UK/Thai, aged 4 born in Thailand (has birth certificate) never left Thailand. Has a British passport.

Now going with mother (has visa) to UK to see the father.

Whilst having/getting a Thai passport is preferable (and must be done in UK or within 30 days of returning to Thailand) can she exit Thailand on her British passport (no entry stamps).

This was posted by 7 x 7  in 2010 and I wonder if anything knows if this is still correct ?

Child can depart Thailand with UK passport and birth certificate (which shows no need for entry stamp in new passport). But if does this without a valid Thai passport will have to return as a UK citizen and have normal visa/address reporting requirements (although not a big deal as no overstay for child). But better to obtain Thai passport and leave on that so return can be on it also.

Thank you

Yes she can exit on her British passport.

It would be best for her to get a Thai passport in the UK or before leaving Thailand. It doesn’t matter whether she gets Thai passport within 30 days of returning. If she enters Thailand using the British passport she will have an open entry that can only be closed if she exits with that passport.
