Hi there,

I am sure there is some foreigners already applied for Retirement Visa after 01. March 2019.

How does the immigration office control, whether the 800.000 THB deposit is still in the account after 3 months? Do we get our Visa at the day of application, or will it be granted only after 3 more months at the final bank statement check?

Do we personally have to go to immigration office and show them the bankbook after 3 months?

I will need to travel after I have renewed my Retirement Visa this July, that's why I am asking.

Thanks for your help

You get the extension done on the date your apply for it.

That will depend upon the office where you apply. Report of some saying it will not be checked until you apply for your next extension. Jomtien immigration has had people sign a paper giving them a date 3 months from the date the application was accepted.

Just did my (retirement) extension today, Korat.  Other offices may be different.

The extension was approved on the spot, as usual.

The I/O told my wife verbally the 800k had to remain in the account for 3 months after today, and then not fall below 400k thereafter.  She didn't mention anything about re-checking the balance at the 90-day report.  There is no notification about it (bring your bank book, etc) on the 90-day report slip of paper she stapled in my passport either.  I plan to update the book and have it in my back pocket just in case.

Apart from that, FYI, I got nailed for not doing the 24-hour report when we returned to Thailand last year, March 2018.  They sent us out to the Investigations Division office to clear the matter, and I let my wife do the talking.   After some back and forth discussion, guy had the wife fill out a belated report form, 8 Baht to copy a few pages in my passport, but no fine.

Returned to the main office and they finalized the annual extension and re-entry permit.
