Tiger's Perth-Singapore flight plans brought forward 6 months

Plans for Tiger Airways to operate daily flights to Perth have been going along so successfully that the carrier have brought ahead the date that they will be starting the operations by six months.

This means that the daily Singapore-Perth services will begin on May 1, 2007 instead of the planned November launch. The excitement surrounding the route has been considerable considering that the route has not even begun operation yet – flights between Perth and Singapore are planned to begin on March 23, 2007.

The LCC initially planned to add additional services only during the peak holiday periods between March and October, but the advance bookings on existing services proved so popular that the airline expanded to daily services much sooner than expected.

“The response from travellers in Singapore and Australia to our low fares Singapore-Perth flight services has been overwhelming,” said Tiger Airways CEO Tony Davis. “With the encouragement and support of the Australian Tourism authorities, we have decided to accelerate the introduction of a daily flight service and launch this in May 2007 instead of November 2007 as originally planned.”

Tiger Airways will be working in cooperation with Tourism WA in a marketing campaign to promote both the service and Western Australia as a tourist destination. The campaign will involve press, online advertising, promotional activities, and journalist and travel industry familiarisation trips throughout Singapore and will run until June 2007.

Flights between Singapore and Perth are on sale now with return flights starting from AUD$290 including taxes and charges.

Tiger does connections from Singapore to Thailand ports.

I just did a theoretical return booking Perth-Phuket in June. The total cost came to $A767. This is after taxes, etc. are included.

Still very cheap. You can also pre-select your seat when booking.

Does anyone know how the seats are configured in Tiger Airways a320 Airbuses? How unconfortable would it be for a big bloke on a 5 1/2 hour flight?

Also what numbers are the exit rows?

the connections to thailand on either air asia or tiger air are very cheap so its really not an issue.

the secret to these airlines is to book well in advance to get the cheap deals.

closer to departure the more you pay.

the $300 tickets were snapped up soon as they went on the web and that was the end of that.

you can prebook your seat for an extra $ 5

best seats are in row 11 and the exit row # 12. to prebook exit row 12 you pay an extra $25 but if you are a big guy its worth it.

ive flown air asia many times and its no frills, no food, drinks, pillows, blankets or tv.

you can buy food and drinks.

also the seats are very close together so the 5 hour flight will be a long one and one must pre book the best seats or it will be a hard trip.
