Shipping electronics back to the USA

Featured Replies

I just received delivery of a small headphone amplifier ( JDS Labs Atom $99 ) .. i had issue and the company offered to repair it for free, just send it back. They told me to recycle the power brick and they would send a different power supply.

I put the box back in its original packaging, then went to the post office.

The girl who packs the boxes, said it couldn’t be sent, I asked why? I just received it via USPS on a plane, what is the issue? There were no batteries or adaptors.

In the end she shrugged and gave me the box, I wrapped it in bubble wrap so that there was no movement.

I took it to the counter, asked what the issue was, he told me to complete the docket and he would see, next he asked for the money.

I returned home to do some research and I find that extra forms should have been completed.

Does anyone have any advice or experience in this? what should I expect next?

If its sent back via any other method than "normal" post then expect Thai customs to tax it....even using normal post it may well be taxed.

Buy your electronics locally to avoid this issue.

Maybe a Thai supplier for JDS Labs is/was able to help you on this issue? Or the reverse way, that JDS Labs authorize/summon the thai supplier to help you. (and getting paid by them ofcourse)

I have nothing to do with bkkaudio but a search on JDS products I found them offering these equipments.

Try make a visit, if you are in Bangkok and around Phaya Tai

Yeah, that’s not the issue. This wasn’t available locally.

Rgds,

I didn’t know BKK audio were suppliers, I know of them but have avoided them in the past after they quoted $250 for a DAC on sale for $99 in the states.

The parcel has been accepted by the postal service now, its gone. I’m just wondering what will happen next.

Its just again frustrating people don’t know their jobs, can’t be bothered to make a phone call, can’t be bothered to explain, just shrug or laugh.
