Smog is a term meaning "smoke and fog." This an incorrect term for the situation here in Chiang Mai. It is smoke from fires, with no element of fog.

Haze is probably more correct, and that term is often used...might even be a west coast, east coast thing....in cali, they get their cars "smogged," but it is usually "emissions testing," on the east coast.

That was the origin of the world, today it is an accurate descriptor of heavy pollution.

No, that's the definition of the word.

"The word "smog" was coined in the early 20th century as a blending of the words smoke and fog to refer to smoky fog, its opacity, and odor.

There is no mixing of gases or chemicals or fog here; this is 100% smoke from burning. Period.
