Jobs At International Schools

Featured Replies

I was thinking of doing a PGCE course here in England. My Q is will it help me secure a better job in Thailand and how difficult is it to get a job at one of the top international schools? Also how much extra salary would I get?

Are there any subjects that are more in demand than others - ICT, Maths, etc?

Thanks in anticipation

Look at a very recent thread regarding salaries.

Maths and Sciences have at least until recently been a shortage subject. Not sure about now. RE is a shortage subject but many International schools don't offer it. Ask this question on the TES (Times Educational Supplement mag on-line) forum. Male teachers at Primary level are also not too abundant.

Don't guess, and don't base your plans on what we say on this board.

CALL the international schools you're interested in.

ASK what they want to see, and

DO what they say. And I'd even recommend giving them a false name, because you don't want to be thought of by them as someone who gets a teaching cert. because he wants to be in Thailand- they want people who (theoretically, anyway) would be happy teaching anywhere.

I imagine that you'll find they want a full TEACHER'S LICENSE from your home country/area, which is usually more complicated than simply getting a degree cert.
