Dpendent Visa Converting To Working Visa?

Featured Replies

How easy or difficult it is for a spouse with Dependent visa to get that converted to working visa and work in Bangkok. Working for a large MNC. Wife qualified MBA - working in insurance industry.

Regards

Sachin

Basic visa for work is non immigrant and that should be what she has so should be easy. But beware of some that say you need a "B" type as that is not true but probably they only have experience using that visa.

No need to change the visa (extension of stay based on being a dependent.) Just apply for the work permit.

Please note: Some companies will insist on the employee to change the extension of stay permit as they feel they can control them better with the employee needing a visa and work permit. ( The threat of having to leave Thailand in 7 days if they cxl it)

Thanks sir. So from what I understand it is not very complicated. I work for an MNC and am getting transferred to Bangkok. My wife works for a re-insurance company in singapore. I would like to know if there is chance of her getting a job in Bangkok. She does NOT speak thai and has experience of around 4yrs.

Thanks a ton for all the help.

Regards,

Sachin

Sachin,

The terminology may have got confused here.

If you and your wife are not Thai then you will have a Non-imm 'B' type visa and your wife will 'piggy back' on the back of that which is a little different from what I think was read that you are a non-thai and you have a Thai wife.

What does your wife do in re-insurance? languages, skills etc, will all depend on the openings available but they are quit limited.

A chance of her getting a job? The odds are not high but if she networks, she has a better chance.

My understandings were they are both Foreigners and why the wife needed a dependant visa.
