They are considered delicacies in parts of Asia and especially the Philippines, China, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Popularly believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein, hearty snack, baluts are mostly sold by street vendors at night in the regions where they are available. sceadugenga Posted March 7, 2007 Share Posted March 7, 2007 Balut is the PI name for it, they call it something else here. I've seen it in Lao too. I've eaten most things but never fancied this.
