Great day for two construction workers in the National Lottery

Yesterday was a great day for construction workers in the state lottery, reported Daily News.

But the pair had came by very different "methods" to select their winning number - 926526.

Wathida Trinet, who works in Wang Noi to the north of Bangkok, had been home to Khon Kaen.

There she noticed a gecko clambering over the house number "526" and decided to buy a ticket of that number.

She won 6 million baht.

Meanwhile Charlerm Hettakhu, 65, from Korat said that a lottery vendor came to his construction site to offload the remains of her sets and he could just afford two from a set of three as he had just 200 baht with him.

He won 12 million on the same number. He had no particular reason to buy that number...they were all she had!

Both lucky winners went to the police in their areas to report their wins.

Daily News did not report on who, if anyone, had the fourth winning ticket.

Well yes if they went to the police to report their winnings. They are supposed to go to the area comptroller.

New to me, never heard of 'area comptroller' before.

I am pleased for them, just hope they manage to do good things with the money and enjoy their new found friends and long lost relatives.:partytime2::burp:

Maybe you have never needed to claim a high value prize ?

FYI

How to Claim Lottery Prizes

Winning tickets can be redeemed for their prize at any Provincial Office of the Comptroller General’s Department (CGD). There is one of these in every province (3 in Bangkok). The tax is 0.5% of winnings. It is possible to redeem at shops though the fee is higher, about 2% is a typical price to negotiate to

Amazing how many times the story of someone buying the last few tickets seems to appear and they all win the jackpot !! ????
