Galactus
'greedy entrepreneurs are not happy about this' of they are not. bc they cannot rip people off easily. they should jail the manager of that hospital too for ripping patiences off while they are having a treatment which sure they feel vulnerable and pay whatever. Assume you meant the owner(s) as the managers are just ordinary employees ...

ZeldasCavern
I had to pay similar charges a couple of years ago to a very well known hospital in Phuket for similar diarrhea treatment, kept me overnight to determine the lab results.... Was given IV, little bit of stomach meds and antibiotic. Thought it was a crime but what's a foreigner to do? Make you disgusted and want to throw up!!! Yeah, E Coli responds really well to cumin powder.... If you have diarrhoea for more than 3-4 days, SEE A DOCTOR.

DaRoadrunner
Overcharging the sick. Money and medicine are a bad mix, with some hospitals even listed on the stock exchange what are we to expect. It remains to be seen how tenacious and effective the Dept of Trade are. Some of these hospitals are making so much money that they would just laugh at the fine. It is interesting to note that many of the doctors working in high end private hospitals also work in Gov’t hospitals where the same doc can be seen for far less. Instead of the typical comments, it might be more useful if posters listed hospitals where they got good care at a fair price. I’d start with Ramathibodi usually being ok. Overcharging?..… Bangkok Pattaya and Bumrungrad. Edited May 24, 2019 by DaRoadrunner
bendejo
charging Bt30,000 for diarrhoea Why would anybody pay to get diarrhea? I got in Thailand lots of times and didn't have to pay for. Didn't want it either, it just happens.

My son had a similar bill for about 2 hours in the emergency room. He beat them out of most of it because of his economic situation at the time, but it still cost a couple thou USD.
