I saw a few people ask the same question as myself about border runs and how they affect dependants. I saw this answer several times by Lopburi3

Baby would not be a problem as there is no overstay problem for them so no extensions required.

I have a one and a half yr old baby and we both have british passports. I have a non b for work and she has a non o. When I went to do a border run I was told hers didn't need renewing etc etc.

Recently I was told that they do by several people inc. my boss(who never mentioned it before when helping with my visa) and now I called the imm. bureau and they claimed that I have the max fee of 20000B for overstay.

What do you make of that??

Does anyone have the official info on where children stand on visa front? Do they have to have the same as an adult?

It gets worse not only has her stamp expired a long, long time ago but her visa expired recently too. I dunno where to begin with this one.

Did you tell immigration it was a child? What they told you was correct in the the max fine is 20k but they have never charged the overstay fine for children. Children do not pay overstay fees.

Yes, I told them she was an infant and that I thought that this was the case. The woman I spoke to said children must be up-to-date too and that I still would have to pay the fine at the airport.

I had problems when we returned Bkk Jan 4.07. daughter 7 has uk passport,we were told by one immg man that she would have to go out of Thailand every mth then after the 3rd time she would, she have to leave for 3mths,and do the same thing every time, Then another immg lady told us that for children it was not a problem up until the age of 17 then she would have to decide to be Thai / English. We spoke to our local immg,AND HE SAID the first guy was correct.or she could give up her British Passport, and get a Thai Passport.IF she did not get a Thai passport would not be able to graduate from school.????

We are still trying to get answers,no the wife is saying its no problem ( Thai )

That is my understanding too.

Only Thai nationals can use the Thai education system. :o

However schools will accept children, pending documentation...............

I have a Non Immigrant Business Visa, 1 year and work permit.

I just left Bangkok 2 weeks ago to Hong Kong and brought along my 2 kids (both of whom arrived here in Bangkok before Christmas).

Both kids came to Thailand without any visa, but a visa on arrival stamp only and were overstaying already for 2 months.

At the airport, I did not pay any fee, instead, we are brought to the immigration desks at the back and their passport were stamped for exemptions - meaning they dont need to pay over stay fees. The immigration officers even played with the kids.

It is also shown at the sign board at the airport the children have no overstay fees. My kids are 2 years old and 4 years old.
