PREM TINSULANONDA, president of the Privy Council and former premier, a statesmen widely regarded as the individual of greatest influence in Thai politics in recent memory, died yesterday of heart failure. He was 98.

THE PASSING of statesman and former prime minister Prem Tinsulanonda was likely to bring about a new and more open political era, shifting away from “Thai-style” democracy and military domination, analysts said.

Toxic chemicals caused seaport fire

Hard-fought wins in lower house point to tough times ahead for next govt

Healthcare access comes too late for homeless woman

A 61-year-old homeless woman who died of tuberculosis (TB) last month had only just been confirmed as a Thai in a DNA test, which would have earned her a citizenship card and access to the Bt30 healthcare scheme that could have saved her life.

Man captured after he crashes pickup allegedly stolen from police

A 20-year-old Thai man, who had allegedly stolen a police pickup truck under the influence of meth-amphetamine from the Muang Surat Thai Police Station in Surat Thani province on Saturday night, was arrested two hours later in the early hours of Sunday after he crashed the vehicle into a power pole.

Poll shows most Thais believe political division is insoluble

Phetchabun people oppose renewed gold exploration
