Transferwise

Featured Replies

Anyone use transferwise lately?  I sent money to US bank on May 16th and it still has not arrived in my US bank...

When questioned, they said they were experiencing a slowdown of transactions...

I am wondering if they are not holding other people's money to place in some financial instrument to gain some personal monetary advantage...

What other companies can be trusted to handle these kinds of money transfers?

On Thursday sent GBP10000 (THB400000) from UK to Bangkok Bank Thailand and it arrived Friday afternoon Thai time.

It takes about 3 days and I never had any problems from USA to Thailand. Good service and never had a problem.

It may be transferring money out of country...presents a problem...

I thought Transferwise only got money into Thailand, I understand they cannot send money out of Thailand.

Only a Thai bank or Deemoney or Western Union can send money out.

Check this thread ''Transferwise does not work in Thailand''

OP,

If you tried to send money from Thailand to the US using Transferwise, you no can do that.    But maybe you were transferring from another country...like UK to US...you didn't say.

But if you did mean Thailand to US Transferwise can not send fund "from" Thailand"...only to Thailand.

Deemoney and Thai banks are cheaper usually.

I think you can send western union to a foreign bank account now.

I used WU to send money from the UK to Thailand a few months ago before Transferwise changed their fees and WU were slightly cheaper. I know I couldn't believe it either until I tried it.

I'm sure WU was cheaper for the direct sending fee; but they sure wasn't for the exchange rate (indirect fee).
