Let them be. After all, you barely notice this kind of holidays, most shops and services are open anyway, and the majority of people keep working as they cannot afford a day off. Just brace for a few extra fireworks.

I notice these kind of holidays when my pension arrives late because of them.

I posted this topic on Wednesday.

 

I received a phone call from Immigration last Friday telling me that the office was closed on Monday.  Previously I was advised to collect an address certificate on Monday.

 

Thank-you to the IO who contacted me.  He was polite and professional and spoke good english.
