Hi

A combination of spinal spasm many years ago causing atrophy of the right inner calf and Parkinson's the last couple of years means among other things that

I have no strength to pick up my heel properly causing a modest limp.

I hope to try out an orthosis for dorsiflexor weakness at Ottobock on a visit to BKK.

These are high quality carbon fibre worn inside a shoe, and cost about 30k baht.

Worth it if it works for my hiking jogging and cycling and gets me out more.

Yesterday I was in the Ram CM and saw someone wearing a thermoplastic orthosis. i described my problem and the son said yes, it's the same.

He said they bought it at Fascino for 1200bt.

Fascino and Pharmachoice both had a couple of brands but not my fit for the right foot.

I see they are even on Lazada.....all cheap.

SO I hope to go to BKK very soon and as well as Ottobock where they will do a proper fitting and tryout, I wonder where there's a major store for these kind of medical fittings. It's got to be worth a try. My area of movement that day will be vaguely between Hualamphong station and Don Muang.

I notice the chap in the wheelchair has not worn a shoe.......and the sole base would need cutting to fit.

I also notice these cheaper models often have a strap across the arch and think this may be uncomfortable........may require a larger shoe than normal too......though in a couple of ads online I do see a shoe going on.

SO the best store or clinic possible is needed, and any experience or good ideas.

ps I have hammertoe in the problem foot from Parkinson's anyone know if there's some sort of brace for the toes to straighten them up a bit.

Thanks!
