Car action film recreates the maverick designs of the classic 1966 Le Mans race.

 

The first trailer has been released for ‘Ford v Ferrari’, starring Matt Damon as Ford’s maverick car designer Carroll Shelby and Christian Bale as Ken Miles – the fearless British racing driver who tried out Shelby’s design.

 

Directed by ‘Walk The Line’ filmmaker James Mangold, ‘Ford v Ferrari’ is based around the 1966 Le Mans 24-hour race, when Ford set out to challenge Ferrari’s dominance in the motor racing world.

 

The film also stars Catriona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, Josh Lucas, Noah Jupe and Tracy Letts.

Speaking of Le Mans, does any place in BKK (e.g. sports bar, embassy, hotel) support a Le Mans viewing event? One can always livestream it alone and at home, but it's great fun to watch some/all 24 hours with other Le Mans fanatics. 

 

Previously have had meetups with friends and once at local Porsche dealership on a huge screen in showroom (they even had a 911 which had competed in Le Mans, provided for the event by the owner/driver's son!).

 

Anything like this whatsoever in BKK? Or will I be livestreaming with the online community again, which I suppose beats nothing.

Saw the trailer a few days ago. Can't wait to see this film, am thinking it will be awesome. A seminal moment for car kids like me coming of age in the U.S. There is also a good documentary on Youtube.

 

 

Based on AJ Baime's fantastic book Go Like Hell, which is definitely worth reading. In addition, American comedian Adam Corolla released an excellent documentary about this same epic battle between Henry Ford II and Enzo Ferrari in Dec/Nov 2017. It's quite good.

Looks like a good film, Bale is a savage.
