The Department of Land Transport in Khon Kaen in north eastern Thailand have fined a bus company 5,000 baht for taking advantage of Khon Kaen university students.

Posts were made online on the fan page "Thailandreport News" that showed 11 students standing, sitting and in the stairwell.

They had been charged full fare and told the bus was not full when they got on in Nakorn Ratchasima bound for Khon Kaen.

Thawatychai Wiriyajit of the DLT said that bus companies had been warned to only sell tickets according to the number of seats.

This company had continued selling tickets after the service was full and so had been fined 5,000 baht.

Daily News reported that such activities on Bus Company routes were going on all the time.

A new rule since yesterday? All buses are overcrowded. Anyway, the company will just pay the "fee" and go on as usual.
