Helo friends,

I'm a bit confused by the current Visa-regulation for foreigners with thai family (~Visa type O). So, I hope to get some hints and explanation:

Here are my facts:

- I'm german (age 35), my girlfriend has a thai & a german passport, our little son (1 year old) has a german & thai passport as well.

- My girlfriend and I aren't married (as she's my 'girlsfriend' :o, but if neccessary we would get married.

- I'm a associate of a small company in germany (IT-security), I earn ~80000Baht cash a month as employee of my own company.

- My girlfriend has a monthly income of 35000Baht a month (working in BKK).

- Right now we shuttle between Germany & Thailand.

- I have no assets (except 25% of my company); so, no money in cash to invest in Thailand.

- My girlfriend owns a house in Bangkok.

- I am highly qualified in IT (espacially IT-security; so, I have my knowledge to invest in thailand :-)

- Believe me: I know what I'm doing :-))

Here're our future plans:

- In future we three plan to live together in Thailand.

- I would still work from Thailand for my company in Germany (as we work in IT it is possible to do so); if necessary I jet to Germany.

- I would like to work as a freelance for IT-security in Thailand, which means I need a work permit.

- This means: I'd have my income from Germany and - if possible - my income from jobs in thailand.

My questions...:

- Can I get a Visa type O as a supporter for Thai-citizens (unlimited stay for a year)?

- Can I get a work permit for Thailand?

- Do we have to get married (probably we do so, anyway)?

- If I would be allowed to work in Thailand, does anybody have an idea on tax to pay as a foreign freelance?

- Do I need to have cash on a bank to get a visa type O?

Thanx in advance for any answers and information.

Regards, denis.

A type O visa may be issued that would require leaving every 90 days but without marriage there is no provision to remain in Thailand full time.

There are procedures for obtaining a work permit but will probably involved a branch office or such. Sunbelt would be able to provide details.

Tax rates are about the same as used in the US. Not sure how high Germany is so can not compare.

Extension of stay based on family is 40k per month family income.

Ok, as I already wrote, mariagge is a nice option for us anyway :o

So, you mean that an option to get a work permit could be to open up a branch office of my company in Thailand. I already thought about that, too. Wouldn't I have to deposit some ~million baht on a bank therefor?

Sorry, what or who is 'Sunbelt'?
