New OA visa before health insurance rule implemented

Featured Replies

I have a multiple re-entry permit based on an OA visa valid until October. However, due to the imminent health insurance requirement was thinking of getting a new OA visa in London now as I am the UK for a few weeks. But wondering if I might have to show proof of insurance at some point later. My other option would be to apply for an extension of stay in Thailand in October but not sure if I would need to have insurance then as I started off with the OA visa.Any advice would be appreciated. Another complication is the London embassy are supposedly changing to an evisa system on June 15 and I wanted to go a few days after,so not sure how the system will work(and they don’t seem sure either). It all seems very unclear at the moment.

You could get a new new OA visa and not have to have insurance until you apply for another one.

It is big unknown about it being needed for extensions in the future. But in my opinion it is not going to happen.

The proposal and that's all it is at the moment, only affects applications for new Non Imm O-A Visas obtained from a Thai Embassy/Consulate.

Your original O-A expired some time ago.

You extend your permission of stay which is not affected regardless of what type of 'O' Visa you originally obtained. Do the extension as normal in October.

Assuming you can meet the new extension requirements in October this year, no need to get a new visa.
