Unfortunately, another tragic ending and a mother who may lose her child or her own life as well. The two words I use to describe why I won't rent a nice car and take a leisurely drive from Bangkok to Ayutthaya or somewhere else to see old temples are 'overwhelming fear'.

 

No enforcement at all and no consequences with real sanctions for drivers who violate the traffic laws; except one-death.

Many years ago I invested money in my wife to attend a reputable driving course. The driving instructor was very thorough and I actually feel comfortable with her driving skills.

Therein lies the horrific paradox. She knows what she's doing. Nobody else does.

Possibly, or a combination of that and a side impact.
In any case, it seems the pickup hit something with enough force to kill a number of people, apparently all inside the cabin.

One of the biggest factors is the toy police. Absolutely, if they gave some tickets instead of looking then the bad habits might change for the better

By law they aren't allowed to travel in the back but as we all know, law enforcement in Thailand is a joke!

So why tell people to p off if they happen to have the sense to leave. Is it compulsory to live in LOS to have the right to point out there is a slight issue with road safety or is that reserved for die hard residents?  I lived there for 20 odd years and one of the biggest reasons for leaving was the nightmare situation on the roads and the stress caused by a simple trip to the shops with my wife and kids in the car.
