Domestic Flights In Los

Featured Replies

Hello

Back in LOS next month. Going to Koh Chang for Songkran with my GF and her 2 kids...can't wait! Has anyone been to Koh Chang for Songkran? What's it like?

Anyway... we're also doing my GF's 2nd UK visa visit and will be spending a couple of days in BKK without the kids. I've heard domestic flights in LOS are really cheap at the moment - is this true?

Neither of us have ever been to Chiang Mai and we'd like to go. I normally hire a 4x4 in LOS and drive from Pattaya to Koh Chang and then back to Pattaya before driving up to the GF's family in Kampengpetch which is tiring but fine for me. I have no desire to drive to BKK and no desire to drive to Chiang Mai either...it would kill me! So, I'm thinking of flying but have no idea of what kind of prices to expect and whether I should just buy the tickets in LOS?

Any advice appreciated and if anyone could tell me how long the flight is and what we need to do/ go once we land at Chiang Mai?

Thanks

Taz...

BKK - CNX is a 50 minute flight, approx return costs between 1600 & 2800 thb depending on airline

No need to book in the UK, just turn up and buy your tickets at the airport itself on the day of your travel or from any agent in BKK

Get your accommodation sorted in Chang NOW. We were there a couple of weeks ago and the manager of our hotel told us he was fully booked for songkran. You never know if this is billybullshit or if it is true, but better safe than sorry.

For the same reason I would book my flights as soon as I knew the dates. I doubt if the prices will go down the closer it gets to your departure.

for sure NOT a good idea during the Songkhran holidays...... all flights will be very expensive and fully booked anyway (particularly to Chiang Mai, which seems to be the most popular destination for Songkhran with both Thais and Farang).

same applies for ACCOMODATION in both mentioned places, as leisurely already stated

if u fly before the 10th of April, you will probably not have problems, but after that day it will be difficult. if you arrive in Koh Chang from ur home country and then wanna go to bangkok and CM from there: Flights from Koh Chang (Trat) are EXTREMELY overpriced, its another BANGKOK AIR monopoly. and there are only 2 flights each day in small aircrafts, so if u wanna do this during songkhran, its definitely necessary to book long in advance.

if u go for that option, doing a booking is a smooth affair on BKK-AIR's website, check it out.

if u dont mind that, take the BUS from Trat to BKK, not sure if there are VIP-24-Busses doing the run, but if so, thats as comfortable as a business-class flight...

should be no more than 5 hours to Trat. but if u dont have to count ur Satang, then sure a flight is less hassle...
