June 12, 20197 yr Chiang Rai police chase down pickup stuffed with drugs By The Nation A high-speed chase through the mountains of Chiang Rai ended on Tuesday with the drug runners escaping under the cover of darkness, leaving their cargo of narcotics to the police. Army troops seized 2.2 million methamphetamine pills and 11 kilos of crystal meth following their pursuit of a pickup truck that began late on Tuesday night, police said. The chase started after troops of the Chiang Rai-based Second Cavalry lset up a checkpoint on the Ban Samakkhi Mai-Huay San Kao road in Tambon Mae Fah Luang, Mae Fah Lung district, and spotted a pickup parking on a roadside. The troops alerted narcotics suppression police, but before they could check the pickup it sped off towards Mae Chan district. A team of police and troops gave chase on the Fang-Mae Chan road until they finally caught up with pickup, abandoned on a mountain road near Phrathat Saengkham Temple in Tambon Mae Chan, Mae Chan district, at 12.30am. The driver and a passenger seen during the chase had disappeared. A search of the vehicle unearthed 2.2 million meth pills packed into 15 bags, along with 11kg of “ice”. The seizure took place in the so-called Golden Triangle that covers the borderlands of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, and hides one of the world's largest centres of narcotics production and distribution. June 12, 20197 yr Well i hope those guys had purchased the stuff and were not just transporting it,i know from my time in Mexico, guys who lost shipments usually ended up loosing their heads and being hung from a bridge,no doubt a bad outcome for them, but full marks to the cops stopping this filth entering the country, when you think of all the harm it could have done.
June 12, 20197 yr Popular Post The perps got away again as usual leaving their filthy loot behind good work if it ever ends up in the incinerator bad work if some police suddenly get wealthier ????
June 12, 20197 yr The old Golden Triangle should be renamed the Chinese connection, that's where all the drugs or precursors for manufacture come from. The British forced the opium trade on the Chinese and centuries later the Chinese are sending drugs out around the world in spades.
