A driver and passengers escaped unhurt early on Saturday when a bus was engulfed in fire on a road in Bangkok’s Pathumwan district.

Lumpini police were alerted at 2.30am that a No 76 bus had caught fire on the Ratchadamri Boulevard in front of the Police General Hospital.

The fire started in the engine at the rear of the vehicle and quickly spread through the entire bus.

The bus driver told police that he was driving from Pratunam to Samae Dam with about six or seven passengers and he noticed black smoke coming from the back of the bus. He said he stopped in the left lane and evacuated passengers from the bus.

Crazy not to have fire suppression, only 80,000 baht cheap compared to the bus or a passenger's life

80,000 is far, far more than a person's life is worth in Thailand. I've read plenty of times about people being killed for much less, once for as little as 100 baht.

In my country the buses also not have any system like that. So why you expect they have that in Thailand? Think you be surpriced how little of these systems are accualy installed in all the buses on the planet.

Well done, no one injured. P... poor maintenance, seems like.

So the fire can't start because of a mechanical or electrical problem?
