What Thai Banks have the best ATM access?

Recommended Posts

I believe Krungsri has a 400 baht/yr card option for free withdrawals at any Thai bank atm.

Thanachart gave me a card with that same feature for their 350 baht base price. I use them as a result. A bit harder to deposit money with Thanachart though as branches are few where I live and you can't use other banks ATMs for that.

Giving your location (at least the region) may elicit replies from those with local knowledge. If you mean "Which banks have the most ATM's?", the banks are required to install ATM's in proportion to the number of ATM cards they give out. This stops banks from handing out cards while relying on their competitors for the ATM's.  So, on a national basis, all of the big five should be more or less equal.

Use a FOREIGN bank debit / credit card, NONE!

Use a THAI bank debit / credit card, just about any MAJOR bank.

Krungsri bank is the one referred to as "The Yellow Bank".  They have always been good for me.

I think SCB has the most ATM's

The numbers in the WiKi are not that up-to-date but

SCB, Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn have more than 9000 ATMs. Probably more as of today,

KTB is considered the bank with the most branches and about 8000 ATMs.

Together with Kasikorn they are the "big four" in terms of assets.

The rest falls a bit behind.

On no. 5 by assets is Krungsri (Ayutthaya), more than 6000 ATMs.

A populated place with no ATM of the above mentioned can't exist

For use within the region/povince: four withdrawals per month at other ATMs are free.

(applies to the very most of Thai banks)

EDIT:

GSB, Government Savings Bank is missing in the above list.

(not very popular with foreigners)

About 6000 ATMs.

Some numbers from the WiKi are quite old like the number of ATMs at KTB.

Guess it has grown significantly.

Don't forget TMB. One mention that you're American and they turn off.

There's also Thanachart, the orange one.

Another light blue one is Krungthai.

That should take care of all the major colors. Once the colors have been used the major banks have stopped

I should have spelled it out: KTB = Krungthai Bank.
Majority owned by government.

Has a special role as all public servants seem to receive their payment through KTB and also tax refund, subsidies for the poor handled via KTB. Branches can get silly crowded at times (might vary from region to region).

Unfortunately this might happen with other banks too due to the effort of reporting to US revenue(?).

I untick all those questions (last seen at SCB) and that's it.
