was over in Patong for a little while yesterday! People seem to be getting all geared up for this year's event!

I've been asked by a tourist arriving soon about this year's event. But I seem to have a vague recollection that the festival was refused a permit for 2008. Is that correct? Will it not be taking place this year?

I heard from Gay Patong that the festival was cancelled due to difference between the organisers. Confusingly they said that some events were planned for this year, pending some kind of meeting.

I stopped for a beer at the tents on beach Rd. last year and I was put in charge of my friends bags while they socialized. I was distracted by some girls and well, one bag was stolen. I still haven't heard the end of it. :o So if this thing is on again, be careful with your bags and pickpockets. The thieves come out in full force to take advantage of the crowds.

Sounds a bit like what's (not) happening in Bangkok Pride Festival :o

(Aside: when is Bangkok Pride Festival holding its AGM?)

I believe Bangkok Pride held a meeting in February. From what I understand, some of the volunteer groups like Rainbow Sky have taken it on for this year.
