UPDATE Anutin: Foreigners behaving improperly face deportation Picture courtesy of Amarin Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has said foreigners who behave improperly in Thailand can be deported under newly tightened regulations, following his signing of an order against an Israeli national. Speaking at Bhumjaithai Party headquarters on 6 September 2026, Anutin confirmed that he signed a Ministry of Interior deportation order for Mr Yaacov Ohayon, an Israeli citizen, to leave the Kingdom on 5 September 2026. The move follows the new Prime Minister's Office Regulation on Deportation, BE 2569 (2026), which Anutin said was intended to make the use of deportation law more decisive and quicker. New rules aimed at faster deportations Anutin said the regulations cover conduct deemed undesirable when committed by foreigners against Thai people or within the country, including behaviour considered inappropriate, improper or harmful to national security and Thai citizens. Under the rules, he said, Thailand can deport such individuals from the country through the Interior Minister. "It is about tightening the enforcement of the law so that it is more decisive and faster," Anutin said. Visitors expected to respect Thai law and customs The prime minister stressed that Thailand still wants large numbers of tourists, but said those entering the country must respect its laws, Thai people, and the country's traditions and culture. Where foreigners do something that is out of line, he said, Thailand reserves the right under the law to remove them from the country. 7 September 2026
