TV run Sav,laos

I had mentioned i was doing a visa run to Sav in a couple threads and some posters asked me to report how it was so i figured i would help out with a report since posters here always help me.

My visa history in this passport is 6 TV all 30 days extender since Jan 2017 2 from Veintenne, 1 from Korea, 1 from HK, 2 from Chicago, and 1 from Hanoi.

Had to go on a dreaded Monday. So what I did was fly out with my GF on Sunday. The flight was on a Lao airline and had to do stop in Paske(i think the name of it) so the entire way there took about 2 hours. Took a van from airport for I think 200 baht to my hotel Avalon 2. Hotel was cheap like 15 bucks a night i think and decent enough.

My plan was to bring a book and be one of the first people in line for the visa. Asked hotel to get us a tuk tuk from hotel to consulate and be at hotel at 6:20 AM cost was 100 baht total. We got to consulate at 6:30 and there was already 10 people in line. If you go on a Monday id advise getting there early. We got to sit in the little room next to the entrance gate which gave us shade. If dont get in there you're stuck in the sun.

Around 7:30 or so the lines of visa run people started coming. The place was loaded with people easily 300-400. I was very glad to get there early. At about 9 doors open. Waited like 15minutes for the 9 or so people in front of me and was out of there. I brought copy of bank account, 1k baht for visa, airline ticket, application, passport copy, and hotels. They gave me back hotel reservations and took the rest. They give u a que and we left.

Same plan the next day get there before everybody. We got to the gate at 11:30 gate opens at 2 to pick up. People started showing up at about 11:45 we were 1st in line. The line was packed by about 12:30 or so. Picked up at 2 and out of there.

I actually spent 4k to rent a private van to take us over the border and all the way to Ubon. The van picked us up at the consulate and took us directly over the border. He seemed to be pretty in the know with the border guys and he grabbed are passports and handed them to the border guys etc. 4k seems pricey i imagine i could of found better but he was the one i found and it made the trip very easy as i didnt have to take buses or vans back with a bunch of people. No questions asked at border and we were way way ahead of all the border runners.

Straight to Ubon rented a car and visited Gfs parents in Sisaket. Stayed the night in Ubon and took a cheap flight from Ubon to DM at 8am.

Overall it was a little annoying. Sav is a really boring town. If you must go do it on a Tues or Wed. I'd say it was easily the worst place to do a visa run of all the cities ive done them in.

No it´s actually not expensive for the service and easy going travel. To me it was the best descision and a very wise one.
