Female pickpocket gang in London caught on camera stealing Thai tourist’s purse

Featured Replies

Yep... Caught pickpockets twice...

Once in Barcelona when I was half-pished... (the pick pockets obviously were no good)

Once in Pargue, again when I was half-pished...(again, couldn't have been very good)

In London (and pretty much any other major city) I walk with my Wife with her handbag between her and I and ask her to never leave it open. Never walk with my Wife on the 'road side' of me, and never with her handbag on the outside - a friends Wife had her handbag swiped by a motorcycle rider in Thonglor...

We have to be aware of these things - protect ourselves as much as we can, be aware and never walk around in an tase oblivious to the realties that there is always an opportunist nearby, especially in tourist areas.

The only thing which irritates me is that Police know the areas where tourists are targeted yet they do so little to intervene and catch these gangs.

I have had people try to pick my pocket 3 times whilst on holiday. Have lived in Thailand for several years and not once has anyone tried to pick my pocket, here or anywhere else in S.E. Asia.

Yep had one try it on me in Barcelona. Mostly Romanian Gypsies who have been forced out of their own countries. Mass clearances of gypsies happening in Roumania. Can't blame them for fleeing the persecution but at least they shouldn't try to live up to the reputation that they brought with them.

it' not reputation, it's in their DNA, try cutting their arms off and they will steal with their feet

The whole incident is caught on video, and moments after it is done they discover the robbery.  All of this within 2 minutes.  It's all too neat, something fishy about this.  It is paced like a scene in a movie.

I agree with you mate, that was not a genuine pick pocketing, it was set up to be posted on social media.

First another person just happened to be filming, at the exact moment the theft supposedly took place.

Second just as the so-called pick pocket was out of shot, the purse was discovered missing.

Third a Thai lady would speak Thai when it discovered not English.

Bet they will be glad to get back to a law abiding place now????

lol unfortunately not - My Mrs and I know Nina, and the town she lives in...  Nice lady though, very interesting to talk to, shame this has happened to her.

it is a common problem thru Europe and London.romainian pick pockets go everywhere and they don,t care if they are caught.if they caught the police go where they live and the handbags or purses in the room are many,so how many have they pickpocketed.

Last year 80% of offenders convicted of pick pocketing in London last year were from Romania.

link to official statistics please, or else that statement is questionable

Agree. If we can see it on the video, why didn't the person videoing it see?

Wouldn't mind hanging a few quid out from my pocket for this one to pick..... In the interest of a fair investigation.

I take it that you mean the front pockets.

not only London, saw a lot of them in  Paris, Madrid and Rome as well, guess they are EU citizen free to move all around without police checking on them

True they are all over EU... except in their home country (often Romania), where they are happy to have gotten rid of them. EU is just a lovely thing. ????

Why anyone would live or visit the UK is beyond me. Ha!

I thought she may have been using a selfie stick ,...and while i couldnt hear it all at the end , i thought the only English she spoke was OMG .

I thought that Thais say Oh my Buddha? Oh my God is far too vague.

Certainly a lot of "likes" for this post but with respect....is it not just... "stating the obvious"?

No fuzzy faces here.....  If the London camera system is what it claims to be, there should be either 3

pending arrest warrants or 3  women packing their bags to head out of town ….

It wasn't a "London camera system" it was the Thais' own video.

Where's the pointing?  at least our CCTV works!  most times something happens here it's 'broken' or 'under maintenance'.

The Thais fleece you face to face. No need to pick pocket you.

Nina Spencer and friend Toi were walking through Cambridge Circus towards the Palace Theatre in central London last week while making a video of themselves from a selfie stick to show friends. But after they had crossed the road, Toi looked inside her Louis Vuitton handbag and noticed her designer purse containing £400 in cash and her credit cards was missing. Devastated Toi and Ms Spencer, both from Thailand, watched back their video and were shocked to see a young woman put her hand into the bag and take the purse....

What selfie stick?

Both ladies had their hands down, clear in the video they were not using a selfie stick, a third person shot the video.
