Has anyone had experience with a really good eye doctor in Bangkok?

Problem could be complicated, involving cataract, etc.

Thanks for your help, Peter

I've had cataract surgery on both eyes at YanHee hospital and have been very pleased with both the service and the results. I was treated by Dr Patamanuch Tarinvorakup. Highly recommend her and the hospital!

Mention my name, I think she will remember.

For complicated eye problems treated in a private hospital setting, you are probably best off at Rutnin Eye Hospital. They do have some of the best eye doctors and with their integrated and multidisciplinary offerings, you will most certainly be able to get your problem solved.

I also think Rutnin would be a good place to start. The exam I had there was the most comprehensive exam I have ever had and I have had my eyes examined at some of the best facilities in California. I went to see Dr.Kayleeporn and although there was a ton of people there, she took her time and was very easy and informative to speak with.Be prpared to spend some time there as it was a very long day as they move you from one eye test to the next. I would recommend bringing a magazine or book and some food...seriously I think I was there about 4 1/2 hours.

Also Dr Vilavun who came highly recommended by the staff at Rutnin Hosp. Mighe want to bring 2 mags or books as you will have a long wait unless you arrive very early. My wife waited 6 hours to see her (no appt).

I'm sorry, I could not find either Dr. Kayleeporn or Vilavun on the Rutnin site list of doctors. There is a Kalayanee Rajanaporn. Is that one of them? And can I ask, when you went to see them, did they solve a routine or more complicated problem?

I've gone to five different doctors who gave me five different prescriptions for eyeglasses, and all of them make me dizzy and headachy, and I can't figure out what's wrong. One doc found the beginnings of cataracts in both eyes, but he said there was no need to do anything about it now.

Thanks for your advice, Peter

Dr Vilavun Puangsricharern MD provided me with routine eye exam. She is an eye surgeon and also on the faculty of med at Chula University and perhaps that is why she isnt shown on the website?? or perhaps she is about to retire and not seeing patients on a regular basis??

Most drs go by their first names only at their respective hosp. or clinics in Thailand so Dr Kayleeporn R. is most likely the dr that was being recommended.

Yes...Dr. Kaylanee Rajanaporn is the doctor i saw. I was going to see her in regards to an intraoccular lens implant. It is quite a speciaized surgical procedure and she was very thorough in her feelings about my case.I also have 2 small cataracts.

Dear farangene and ericg,

thanks for clarifying and thanks for your help,

peter

Peter

I made a mistake.

Dr Kalaynee Rojanaporn is the dr I saw at Rutnin. Dr V. was another dr I met and kept her card.

Sorry for the confusion.

Incredible, people don't remember the name of a doctor that provided treatment, and other people are providing recommendations for doctors they don't see. How about providing a recommendation for a doctor that actually provides excellent service? I had an appointment with Dr. Kayleeporn, opps, I mean Dr. Kalaynee Rojanaporn. I sat in the waiting room for 4 hours, and finally left without seeing anyone. I'm not as pleased with Rutnin as some other posters.
