The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a warning at 4am today (Wednesday) alerting the public to the possible impacts of tropical storm ‘Mun’.

The TMD reported that the tropical storm is moving west from Hainan Island at a speed 20 km/hr and will make landfall between northern Vietnam and China by July 4th. It is predicted that the storm will bring with it torrential rain and strong winds over Thailand, especially in the North, the Northeast, the Central and the East.

“People should be aware of the severe conditions that may cause flash floods. Travelers should follow the weather updates closely” says the TMD’s warning.

yes the low pressure system to the East has been pulling moisture from the West across Thailand. Overcast and light rain in Hua Hin. Almost all of Central Thailand was at some point covered in rain last night.

OK I have to rest now. Too much excitement so early in the morning.

Chong Chom Market area this morning on the 214 highway upgrade. The area had about 5 hours of rain.

And I pick this week to take a vacation in the Northern Mountains.
Well, what the heck.  I've lived in the UK and the US Pacific Northwest.
As I was seriously amused when I first got here by Thais who covered their heads like acid was falling in their hair when it's raining .  Thais were amused at the farang who didn't really care about what the farang call an "Oregon Mist."

I don't know about the lovely and cool bit. Out thermometer is reading 21C, which is not really cold but I am wearing a long sleeve shirt and woolen hoody against the normal shorts and singlet. Must be acclimatized to hotter weather. But a miserable day here raining all day.

Prasat is quite near Chong chom and we got nothing, the rice is looking very sad indeed, lots of clouds that end up somewhere else.

No rain yet in CM and no beach to wash away ????

Here in Buriram, it poured down last night and then today was just like a summer's day back home.  Drizzling non stop, gusty winds, and temperature in the low 20's.

The recent forecasts for rain in CM recently have in general been completely wrong,at least in the area we live in.

It started raining in Khon Kaen about 02:00 this morning until about 15:00 this afternoon, but it has only been light rain with a couple of slightly heavier showers.

Which part of Buriram are you at? I am also at Buriram but near to Khon Kaen and we only have light rain since last night until now.

Half way between Buriram and Surin towns.  Some decent rain falling again now.

Overcast ALL Day in Nong Khai But Only had a bit of a light shower for about 30 Minutes around 1.00pm NO Rain since & Still 27c at 8.45pm....

Current models (eg this one) show that Mun will pass north of Thailand entirely, some light rain might be seen but in the norm for the season.

BANGKOK, July 3 (TNA) – The Royal Thai Army has alerted its disaster response units in storm-prone areas to cope with the impacts of Tropical Storm Mun.

Deputy army spokesperson Col Sirichan Ngathong said the movement followed the Meteorological Department’s announcement that the tropical storm would cause heavy rain, strong winds, flash floods and runoffs in 51 provinces in the North, the Northeast, the Central Plain and the East on July 3-5.

A few regency and soda in the afternoon with wife an her friends, some Singhas predicted but unfortunately no golden showers on the forecast.

Sigh!!

Storm aside I thought this was going to be a drought year?

So far an hour west of BKK we've already had more rain this year than last years total.
