What is the best water pump for underground water tank?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Please advice what is the best water pump to use for one storey house with underground water tank,

Turbine water pump, water pump with pressure tank or the third one from my attached picture?

What is the difference between those pumps? Which is more efficient?

At Home Pro they advised to me the water pump with pressure tank... But I did not understood why..

Thank you all in advance

How far is the water level below ground?

the first one on your list can lift the water 3 meters from below the pump  .

Run the video, it will give you an idea of what available from Hitachi - as it looks like most of the models are listed  and give the lift and the discharge height.

All 3 have pressure tanks - so I would say Homepro weren't making any definite selection on which pump to used - just one with a pressure tank - mainly because that's all the know and understand.

Watch and ask more questions  if needed.

All three shown are turbine pumps - just configured differently  - the middle unit is just old style - but thousands and thousands in operation, the others are just more modern concept.

Thank you, The water tank depth is approx 1 - 1.5m from the surface. So each of those pumps should fit.

Maybe you know which of those pumps have less noisy sound when it works?

Don't forget that it's the bottom of the tank that is the important depth

Thanks. Yes , the bottom of the water tank is 1 - 1.5m.

After the explanation from Artisi I made some research and I think that the turbine model (the one that shown at the video, the left on my picture),

is the best for my needs - it provide more water pressure per minute (60L), its more quiet than other models (49db) and consumes less electricity power than other models for same water supply per minute (150w).

I just hope that my calculations will be correct and supply pressure of 60 liters per minute will be enough for 1 storey house with one kitchen and 2 bathrooms.

If somebody have an experience with that model of water pump (Hitachi Turbine Water Pump TM-60L) - please share your experience with this pump according to your home size.

Thank you all

No experience, but certainly looks to be the best choice.

Regenerative turbine house pumps are mostly low flow high head. I have no experience of the Hitachi TM-60L but looking at the specification it seems they have designed a pump to provide higher flow rate with reduced noise. There will be a pressure compromise and suggest you study the working pressures of all models against your requirements. WM-P250GX2 is a good all round pump in both compact and tank models. Mitsubishi compact pumps go one step further with pressure and flow control to help reduce cycles.

Looking at the chart the turbine is anemic to say the least. It has the lowest pressure of any pump I've seen, and its maximum suction is less than ½ that of any other model.

I hope it's much cheaper than the others.

Perhaps worthless information:  But a few years ago some of this forum's posters came to the conclusion that water pumps (for reason not yet determined) post the power rating related to the head capacity NOT the electric consumption.  IE: a pump rated 150W is likely to draw 3-5 amps.  (not .68)

OK, cool.

I found a guy on other forum that actually own Hitachi TM-60L pump - waiting for his reply about experience with this pump.

Thank you all for advice, info and specs.
