Kidney desease

Featured Replies

My wife and me are considering to relocate to Hua Hin for retirement.

An importamt issue for us is the fact, that my wife has a kidney desease. Therefore she needs regular control of her blood levels. If things are going bad, she even might need kidney dialysis.

Does anybody know, whether there are coctors and hospitals in Hua Hin, which are capable to deal with such a desease? Are there good laboratories for blood tests? Are there dialysis capacities in Hua Hin or nearby? After some internet research I have doubts.

We are coming mid of August and of course will approach doctors and hospitals. But perhaps somebody has already some knowledge, because she/he has a similar problem or knows of someone with a similar desease.

Regards

Thank you so much! I haven't found that, although I was on this site before.

We will talk to them, once we are in Hua Hin in August.

You could also try San Paulo. Then there's the government hospital further North toward Cha Am.

Don't be surprised if you visit a private concern and they take you by ambulance to the state hospital for treatment.

Going directly to a government hospital can save you quite a bit of money (about 60%). However you need to perform perfunctory tasks yourself.

Obviously, insurance coverage can be a major deciding factor.

During my recent stay in Hua Hin, I managed to visit the Bangkok Hospital. I had a good impression. They have a specialist for kidney deseases. But unfortunately it is one lady, and that's a kind of risk.

I also was in public Hua Hin Hospital. Communication here was more difficult, but people have been very friendly too. They don't have a kidney doctor, but a specialist visiting their hospital once a week (the specialist from Bangkok Hospital?).

A specialist that treated me a while back was a contractor (one morning a week) from a state hospital. He held surgeries at a few hospitals. My treatment procedures were carried out at that state hospital. Was ferried there from the private hospital.

An inquiry showed that an investigation and treatment (by the same specialist) of my condition was 20% of what the private hospital charged.

Had insurance so never mind.

Thank you for this tip! We might check this, once we are both in Hua Hin.

I already asked at Bangkok Hospital for some sample prices, and they are close to German levels.

Fortunately we have a German health insurance with worldwide coverage ...
